In my marketing class this week, I learned all about sourcing products. I explored two distinct business models: drop shipping and affiliate marketing. As I completed the assignment and read the readings/case studies for the week, I became in favor of drop shipping as the optimal solution for a group aiming to sell a single product. It led me to believe drop shipping is the best business model if you don’t have an existing large audience to market too.

However, my perspective on affiliate marketing changed quite a bit as I learned more about it. Initially, I was skeptical about its profitability for those focusing on a specific product, I was pleasantly surprised to discover its potential. Contrary to my belief that only individuals with sizable audiences could make a profitable business in affiliate marketing, I learned that even with a modest following, this model  could yield a lot of profit.

While drop shipping offers a direct approach to product sales, affiliate marketing opens doors for those seeking diverse revenue streams. Although I continue to champion drop shipping for those wanting to sell one specific product, my newfound appreciation for the versatility of affiliate marketing has broadened my understanding of viable business modes.
