Week 8 internship
Monday:
Today was a growing experience for me. As someone who has been working with TSS for almost a year now at MHS, I felt like I had a good handle on things. TSS, being a very tricky client, has always posed unique challenges. Olivia, the design manager, even goes as far as to say that they are one of the most difficult clients at MHS. Their rapid business growth often leads to disjointed feedback and projects that can be quite challenging to navigate. But despite it all, over time, I believed I had managed to understand their needs and preferences to a tee. I was confident that I had developed the ability to read their minds and anticipate their likes and dislikes. However, as today unfolded, I was reminded that I can never truly read a client's mind. The day started off with TSS sending over some incredibly confusing feedback. It was as if their thoughts were jumbled and all over the place. The comfort I had once felt in working with this client evaporated, and I realized the importance of always staying on my toes and not getting too comfortable in my role. Every project is a new opportunity to learn and grow, and assuming that I have it all figured out would be a grave mistake.
Fortunately, Mel, our project manager, is scheduled to have a meeting with TSS soon. I am hopeful that during this meeting, any misunderstandings or uncertainties will be cleared up. Communication is key, especially with clients like TSS, and I trust that Mel will be able to bridge the gap and ensure that we are all on the same page.
This week has been particularly busy with TSS emails. One project that stood out was the creation of a fun international yoga day email. It was a delightful challenge to capture the spirit of the occasion while still remaining true to TSS's branding and values. Despite the rollercoaster of emotions today, I found solace in the fact that I can still deliver creative and engaging content, even amidst the confusion. It serves as a reminder that no matter how humbled we may be, there is always room for growth and improvement.
Wednesday
On Wednesday of week 8, I had a fulfilling and rewarding day at the studio. The highlight was working on eight different workout calendars for TSS, which allowed me to demonstrate my design skills and creativity. Additionally, I received a little promotion as I will now be responsible for designing and proofing my own work. Previously, the design manager handled this task, so it felt gratifying to know that Mel and Olivia trust me with this responsibility. I'm enthusiastic about this new role and excited to take ownership of my designs. Not only does this opportunity offer professional growth, but it also means I'll be getting more hours through design proofing.
